Pool to open July 11th.
As many of our members have already heard The Columbian Swim Club has reached an agreement with the Township of Union to open our pool for the 2020 season not only to members of the Union Knights and Columbiettes, but also to the residents of Union Township.
In May, the Board had voted not to open for the 2020 season due to the lack of enrollment caused by concerns related to the Coronavirus, as well as, concerns we had in regarding our abilities to properly adhere to CDC guidelines during the pandemic. Shortly afterward, we were contacted by the Township to begin discussions about sharing the facility for the 2020 SEASON ONLY!! The township happens to have unused budgeted recreation funds available due to the COVID forced cancellation of several programs (e.g. fireworks and concerts in the park)
After several weeks of talks, the Board felt a one-time partnership with the township would be the only way the pool could be utilized in 2020. The partnership will have the Township assume ALL payroll, ALL costs associated with running the pool as well as insuring the adherence to ALL CDC COVID-19 health regulations....FOR THE SUMMER OF 2020 ONLY!!
Pool Rules and Regulations for the 2020 season are as follows:
The Pool will open on Saturday July 11.
Hours of Operation will be 7 days a week, with 2 daily sessions from 12:00pm to 3:00pm, and from 4:00pm to 7:00pm.
Due to current COVID-19 regulations the pool grounds can only be occupied at 50% capacity or 73 persons. In an effort to allow for the most use of the pool the above daily sessions were agreed to. There is a sign-up process on a first come first service basis for each daily session that will managed via the township web site. There will be no admittance without registration.
All patrons will be required to leave the pool area at the end of their session so the staff can properly clean the facility.
Daily fee : ($5.00 per adult and $3.00 per child). Payment MUST be made at the time of making your reservation via credit card. There will be NO cash accepted at the gatehouse. The gatehouse will be manned by a township employee. To enter the pool area all persons will be required to have identification that matches the name(s) provided at the time of registration. Children under 16 will not require identification, but must be accompanied by an adult and be included on the reservation. Children under 16 require adult supervision at all times while at the pool. In other words, no drop offs and returning to pick up a child(ren) at the end of the session will be permitted.
All guests will be required to bring their own chairs. Chairs can not be left on premises.
CDC health requirements will be followed. The temperature will be taken of every person entering the pool area and everyone entering the pool area must wear masks when social distancing is not possible. Of course masks are not to be worn when swimming.
Non-members will be allowed to order from the snack bar and use the patio, but will not be allowed in the grove or to order drinks at the Tiki bar.
At the end of the season, the Township has agreed to dedicate a portion of the gate receipts to alleviate future expenses of the Columbian Swim Club.
We will keep all posted as additional items continue to be worked out and discussed with the township. Examples being: How many days prior can you register for a session - and - refunds or credits for rain days.
