At the Knights of Columbus, there is no shortage of activities or projects that you can either get involved with or participate in at any level. Below is a list of many of our activities offered by both the Knights of Columbus and the Columbian Club. Please look them over and seriously consider getting involved. Runnells Hospital - For years now, members of this council have been volunteering their time, every 5th Sunday, to assist the patients at Runnells Hospital in Berkeley Heights. How do we assist them? It's simple… we go to their rooms and wheel them down to the chapel so they can attend Sunday mass. After mass is over, we wheel them back to their rooms. This not only fulfills your Sunday obligation as a catholic, but also provides you with the peace of mind that you have helped others who are trying to practice their faith, but are physically unable to do so. The Deron School - Established in 1967, The Deron School offers educational programs for learning-disabled students, 5-21, who cannot be served in a regular classroom setting. Each year at Christmas time, volunteers arrange a visit from Mr. & Mrs. Santa Claus. Clothing Drive - Each year the Council holds a clothing drive and the profits from this event are used to support the council's charitable efforts. Collected items include any usable clothing, shoes, belts, handbags, linens and stuffed animals. All donations should be placed in large plastic bags and securely tied. Bowling League - If you are interested in joining our bowling league, you can contact Jim Bayer at 908-208-0126 or e-mail JASPER56@comcast.net. We bowl every Thursday night beginning at 6:15pm at Linden Lanes. Toy Drive - Second Chance Toys is a community-based initiative which rescues unwanted plastic toys that are gently used and distributes them to children in need through local community organizations, while at the same time, helping the environment. How can you help? Donate toys: Plastic only, must be clean, no small or missing parts and battery powered toys must be fully operational. Drop off times will be posted in the Knight Digest as well as the web site. Charitable Raffle - Four times per year, the Council runs a 50/50 drawing. If you are a member, tickets for this drawing will automatically be mailed to your house. Each member is asked to participate as the proceeds for this raffle help to provide support for the many of our charities. Drawings occur in September, December, March and June. Columbian Club - Many fundraising events are sponsored through the Columbian Club to help maintain and improve the building and grounds. If you're a member of the Knights of Columbus, you are also members of the Columbian Club. Feel free to take part in the many events provided by the Columbian Club. We need your support! Camp Fatima - Camp Fatima is a not-for-profit, non-sectarian organization designed for children and adults with developmental disabilities. Each year, Sister Ann Dominic from St. Michael's Parish, sponsors a Valentine's Dinner Dance to help support this organization. Pool Mass - to officially open the pool for the summer, there is a mass at pool side on Memorial Day.
