V-J Day Mass at St. Michael’s Church
On Saturday August 14, 2010 we will celebrate a Mass to commemorate the 65th Anniversary of V-J Day, the end of World War II. Besides our World War II Veterans and their families we are inviting other Knights of Columbus Councils, and local VFW, American Legion, and DAV Posts to remember the day when the Second World War ended. The Mass will be at 11:00 AM at St. Michael’s Church in Union.
Please plan on attending this Mass to show a strong support from our Council and to show these Veterans your appreciation for all that they did for our Country and Council. Help is needed for Eucharistic Ministers, Ushers, and transportation for some of our Veterans for this Mass, so if you would like to help please contact Steve Nagy at toys4504@aol.com.
These Veterans are a great group of men and without what they have done, we would not have what we have today, in our Country and our Council, so please come out and show them your support.
Memorial Day Weekend – Thank You
Everyone agrees that this year’s Memorial Day Weekend was one of the best and most attended that the Council has had in many years. I would like to thank everyone who helped to make it possible, especially Len Komar and Mike and Jackie Kramer for their hard work and efforts of the Mass, Flag Ceremony, USO Fund raiser, Parade and all other activities. And to thank all the families who came up to the Council to enjoy all that was going on. Mark DiIonno from the Star Ledger wrote about our World War II Veterans Flag Ceremony for his Memorial Day column for the Sunday Star Ledger, so the whole state read about us that weekend.
Besides all the fun on the weekend, we raised $310 for the USO through the Horse shoe tournament, 50/50 and donations and the Council added an additional $90 to it, so we donated $400 to the USO to help them support our men and women who serve in our Military. It was great to see everyone, especially all the kids enjoying themselves at the Council over the long weekend.
Hope everyone keeps coming back all summer long.
